Hi:
I acquired this Penn 9/0. I recently replaced the old non-handle side plate with one I ordered from mysticparts.com. For some reason the bearing does not seem to go all the way in, I feel like I may have the wrong bearing or maybe a side plate not designed for this year?? The bearing is a 40-114H.
See the pics.
Any thoughts?

Sometimes the ears where the bearing screws in can be tight, if this is the case bend them out a little and this would make it easier to install the new bearing, also make sure the spool arbor is engaging the bearing and not hanging up on the edge....looking at my 6/0, the bearing is proud about 1/4"......Bill
The new plate takes a newer style bearing.

It says the newer bearing is not compatible with the older plate.
It doesn't come out and say the old bearing is not compatible with the new plate, but I think this is the issue.
MysticParts can let you know for sure.

Probably the exact problem, if replacing an original plate with a newer, the bearing would need changing.
We have both plates in stock but I'm assuming you ordered a 27N-115

What spool is in the 9/0?
There are also really old "hubbed" chrome spools that have complete incompatibility with the later plates/bearings.
