Title: Cal's Drag Plate for Ocea Jigger 5000P
Post by: Niloticus1 on October 16, 2016, 08:41:47 AM
Hi,

I was lucky enough to pick up an unused Ocea Jigger 5000 earlier this year. I've been unable to track down a Cal's drag plate but I do have a friend with a CNC machine.

Could anybody supply pictures and exact dimensions  (or, ideally, a physical sample) so I can have a few machined up? If so I would be happy to supply the excess free of charge to other forum members.

I think the OJ4000 and 5000 use the same plate?

If anyone can help I'd be really grateful.

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave,

I could draw one up for you in 2-D in a few days as I have to take a reel apart.

Hi Bryan,

Thanks, that would be very much appreciated!

Out of curiosity, what's a Cal's drag plate for the OJ 5000P?

Back in the day Cal of Cal's Two Speed (a reel tuner and manufacture of up graded parts for many reels) made drag plates for Shimano reels. When the Shimano reels were coming back to them broken with modded parts (exceeding their specs which they never listed and I don't think they still do) they asked Cal with a cease and desist letter to stop making parts for their reels. Being a smart man Cal stopped making many parts for Shimano reels.

I still have his drag plates in a couple of reels and if you are not careful with your drag settings you can damage a reel.

Ah ok, thanks for the info. I guess it was an instinct that kicked in as soon as I saw the Cal's name; "is this something I need to get hold of for an Ocea Jigger?" :D

first 4 pictures on this thread are showing a Cals drag plate for a trinidad 16 (same reel than Ocea Jigger in Japan)
