Hope someone has a better memory than me! I read somewhere (?) that someone noticed the spring on a 40-60 cup does not allow the spool shaft to sit true on it's bushing????? and they recomended removing the spring and using blue loktite on the threads and let her rip!
If this is true can we assume that all bushing penns have un-evenly worn bushings? I know after reading this article ( wherever I read it) I removed the spring and put in a new 40-60, loktite'd it and adjusted spool accordingly and did get more casting distance! Not much but every little bit helps sometimes. Could there be any truth to this?
THANX
Mark
Sorry Mark. I cannot confirm nor deny if this has been a problem. I know that I haven't see this problem personally.
Hi Brian, I'm sure you've seen a few! lol Thanx

That actually sounds more like a slightly bent shaft.
I would think that with the bushing being threaded into place it would be awful hard for the spring to change the bushing's alignment...even with extreme spring pressure. I'd have to think that new bushing you used probably increased your distance. Possibly more could be gained by polishing the spool shaft...especially where it passes through the pinion. 8)
