You have 3 open spaces to fill. Tip Toe the New rods past the Wife to fill the spaces.

then drill an extra row of offset holes in the center so you still have the same number of empty holes (just in case she counts)  ;D

Our women will see whatever they want to see -- my wife gave up on my rods and reels many years ago.

My wife loves See's candy (a California company that will not compromise quality, period).

One Christmas around 20 years ago, Sue sez: "If you get me a box of See's candy this year, I will only eat 2 per day as a treat -- and with moderation they will last a long time, and not be bad for my health".

Sounded reasonable to me -- so I bought a 2 pound box for her.  She was so happy with her plan of making the box last.

She did not know that I had bought another 2 pound box -- and as the candy started to dwindle, I would seed 4 or 5 back into the box every few days.  We still laugh about that candy box lasting a couple of months.  The funny thing was -- she never questioned or examined the Math.

Just said to herself, "My, this box never seems to get empty -- wonderful!".

So drilling a few extra random rod holes may work pretty well -- but you have to have enough rods to keep the confusion going!

Best,

Fred

My wife loves fishing too, in fact one of those spaces has her rod & reel residing in it. Shimano 8000 OC bait-runner. My freshwater rods are in another rack.  I'm a lucky man to have her...

You are indeed fortunate, Mark -- as we all are who have spouses that support and want to be involved in each other's endeavors and interest.

But it goes both ways (guess who is going to line dancing classes with her, concerts, and other joint activities).

Nice pic of your wife, Mark --

Best,

Fred
