Title: Trinidad freespool live bait tensioner
Post by: Bryan Young on November 13, 2016, 04:13:43 AM
Hello

I've seen many reels come by my bench asking to disable the live beat tensionser device. In the past, I think everyone has been grinding the nylon cog on the spool so the device will never engage the spool. Well, today, wile working on a Trinidad 40N, something else came to mind. What if I just removed the slide device that engages the spool and replace the decide with some shims on the clicker post where the slide is secured to?   That way I can always return the reel to normal if I ever sell it. What do you think?

I used four 4x6x0.3 mm shims as shown.

That works. When they first came out people were grinding the teeth off the cog. Those spacers accomplish the same thing.
