Title: 500s bridge question.
Post by: JRD on November 26, 2016, 03:08:09 AM
A decent 500s came into my hands.  Steel gear, plated bridge and eccentric plate.  The bridge is stamped 3-500 and the dog is held onto the post by an "e" clip.  I have a number of plated 500 bridges but none that are grooved for that e clip.  Is there a date range or specific application they were used for?

JRD, all my 500's are older models, late 50's and maybe a 1980ish and none have the e-clip.....sounds like a good modification though.....is it maybe an aftermarket bridge?  Bill

I have a few 500s reels with the plated bridge & E clip on the dog. They are all marked 500s. I also have some bridges marked 500s that are brass & no E clip. It must have been certain years for the plated bridges with E clips on the dog. I've never seen a plated & E clipped dog on an original 500 or 501. Anything is possible though.        Rudy
