Title: Fishing Reel Lamp
Post by: gumpie44 on December 31, 2016, 05:48:15 PM
Found A Way To Use Some Of My Vintage Treasures,  Moved From CA To NV. In 95, Not Much Need For My Salt Water Gear In The Desert. Was Too Attached To Get Rid Of My Old Gear, Thought This Was A Good Way To Use It Again.   Got An Old Lamp,   Removed The Ceramic Center, Cut Down The Rod Handle To Fit,  Wired The Socket. Added A Shade, My Old Rod Was Back In Service! The Reel Seat Is Functional, So I Could Take The Reel Off  And Fish It.   If I Ever Get A Really Cool Reel Like Most Of You Guys,  I Can Change It.   Was Pretty Easy Project, Simple Tools And A hack Saw Was All  I  Used.
BEST WISHES   HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL
BARRY

That is an awesome idea  I could make a standing lap with a bunch of my reels and can say he's I'm decorating...I didn't like how that reel color blended with the room so I had to buy a new reel for the benefit of matching the room. :D

Great idea,  Form meets function,  I see the Light. :D   You can still use or move the reels in a rotation as well.    Nice!  Great indoors project!

Matching the reel class, line rating, and drag setting to the wattage of the bulb would be critical...those 300w-er's could probably spool ya if you're unprepared... :D :D :D

Finished 2nd Lamp Project, Made A Shop Lamp For My Work Bench......Wife Of 46 Years Does Not Consider Fishing Reels (Décor Items) So I Have One At  my Computer Desk, Now Made One For My Work Bench. That May Be All For Me. To Stay Married 46 Years You Must Pick Your Battles Carefully, And Learn To Negotiate. Used A Broken Wright McGill Salmon Mooching Rod.....Had A Penn 67 With A broken Plate I wanted To Use, got Some Help From A Member On This Site,  WOTHoyt Who Gifted Me A 67 Reel For Parts, Thats Reel Ohana ! Glad To Be Part Of This Group Hope I Can Add Something.

Oh man, that's just off the hook, too cool.  De-lux POS.  I love it!  That reel was perfect for that job.  Perfect patina and did you use that garage made pole clamp plate that was on it?  Now that would undoubtedly be the pi-ace-de-rezistance' of  beer chuggers everywhere.  HA!
