Title: Stradic CI4 2500F
Post by: BigBee on January 20, 2017, 01:21:04 AM
Hello, I have the Stradic CI4 2500F and it has 1/8 inch main shaft play "in and out." I have replaceced the plastic bushings with bearings and oscillating pawl. These upgrades helped somewhat and took 1/16 of play out but still have 1/8" of play. Any suggestions? Thanks.

All of the Shimano reels that use a worm gear will have this play. Now 1/8" is a lot. When you used the bearings on the worm gear did you shim the rear bearing before putting the little cover on? It doesn't take much.

You do not want the reel to tight.

yes, I installed the washer on the worm gear before the bearing.

Question: So the washers as Shimano calls them are shims to adjust the tolerance?
Does this go for all washers placed in the reel?

Yes they are used for adjusting the tolerance on main gears and pinion gears. In your case the worm gear.

They are also in the handle to adjust the play. I use the handle washer or shims to adjust the rear of the worm gear. They fit just right on the bearing inner race.

They are commonly called shims and come in different thicknesses.
