Title: Little Red Jewel
Post by: Alto Mare on January 22, 2017, 03:16:05 AM
This evening I decided to assemble this little red jewel, here is a pic of what's under the hood:
(http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g431/pescatore1/DSC_0002%202.jpg) (http://s1101.photobucket.com/user/pescatore1/media/DSC_0002%202.jpg.html)
and the assembled reel:

(http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g431/pescatore1/DSC_0022%201.jpg) (http://s1101.photobucket.com/user/pescatore1/media/DSC_0022%201.jpg.html)
(http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g431/pescatore1/DSC_0004%201_2.jpg) (http://s1101.photobucket.com/user/pescatore1/media/DSC_0004%201_2.jpg.html)
(http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g431/pescatore1/DSC_0006%202.jpg) (http://s1101.photobucket.com/user/pescatore1/media/DSC_0006%202.jpg.html)
Having parts from 6 different sources, it's amazing how everything went in nicely and the functionality is flawless.
Thanks Alan C., Tom, Adam, Ted, Dave and of course need to mention Tiburon and McMaster.

Enjoy!

Sal, I think you need to send that reel to me for proper disposal, no where near the quality for your needs  ;)....seriously what an OUTSTANDING reel brother.....so good to see so many aftermarket parts fit so well and sure it will out perform anything of that size and many others that "claim" to be......we have a saying inside the walls "those that can do, and those who cant teach", you surely DO NOT fit that saying.....you DO and you TEACH....well done brother......Bill

It sure is a beauty.  Is the name Little Red Jewel?  That doesn't sound very Italian.  How about calling her Rosie Red?   :D ;D Dominick

Wow, all red and shiny new. Very nicely done Sal. Make sure you get the nylon washer on top side of the lever to protect the anodize  -Ted

Sal,

I just noticed that I think you handle arm is installed backwards?  The curved part moves clockwise when cranking... doesn't it?

Ok Ted, now I need to face up. There is a reason I keep leaving it out and it is my personal reason...I simply don't like it there  :).
Once the screw is in, there is no movement there at all, you would actually be better off without it.
You don't want any flexing there, I understand you having concerns with the anodizing, but I believe it will do just fine as is.
With that said, I'm not telling anyone to go without it.
By the way Ted, that lever does amazing things to these builds, you should be designing for Penn ;)

Mark, this isn't fair for others, you have a sky view ;D. You are correct! there are springs and screws missing, in my defense, I have another pull out desk 1' away from the one you see with everything else needed. I was just giving a general idea of the gears and bridge assembly :)... good eye!

You've set the bar for excellence.  That, my friend, is not only beautiful, but shows the love in what can be done to make a very functional reel.

Upgraded to the nines by a top shelf builder.  You've amassed some beautiful parts to make a spectacular reel, and you just had to do the jeweling to rub it in. ;)
50 years from now when they're having your estate sale I'm gonna be waiting in line the night before for first dibs... you too, Ted!
Great job, Sal

I was able to pull them from photobucket, but somehow I'm not able to get them to full size, Ran.
I'll try some more and see if I can get them back up.
For now, this is the best I could do.

I added that extension that Chile turned us on to that allows you to see photobucket images, and it worked for a while, but I'm starting to see that darned update message again. Photobucket must have got wind of it and put another hex on us. :-\

lovely reel Sal, as tommy said, to dung good to fish with, but what coloured line would you decorate it with, not that it would make it look any better, cheers Don.
