Title: Help with bearing removal, spinning reel
Post by: lifeofRiley on January 25, 2017, 10:46:19 PM
I have noticed that on most every spinning reel I have ever torn down for cleaning/repair I have one hell of a time removing either one or both of the bearings that rest in the sideplate and are on either end of the main gear. I've included a picture of one I'm working on now. Thanks if you have any tips that make this job a little easier.

This always happens on the handle side of the reel. It's caused by tightening the handle.

You will need a small file to go around the shaft right next to the bearing. I deal with this all the time.

Also always grease the openings before putting the handle and cap back on. This will prevent them from rusting.
