Title: cleaning mag sealed bearings
Post by: Frankyreel on February 05, 2017, 02:29:01 PM
HI :) I'd like to know how can I do to clean and how to add,   normal oil in to daiwa's mag sealed bearings or all type of mag sealed bearings,  and if is it possible....

Normally I work with casting reels (Pike and bass fishing) and I'd like to add the right oil I prefer, so standard oil, heavier oil, or lighter or specific for Salt water use ecc ecc. Anyone can help? Do I have to use only the specific oil ? the only one on Ebay or is there others too?

(Sorry for my English, it should be better, I know I know ... :( :) )

I haven't had one of the integrated mag bearings in hand yet, all I have dealt with have been able to be disassembled for cleaning and then reconstructed and recharged.  I suspect my first attempt to flush an integrated magseal bearing would be extended ultrasonic cleaning in acetone to try and break down the carrier oil, then recharging with APG-11 and/or Inox MX6 grease.

cheers
