Heys guys. I'm new to site and somewhat new to reel collecting but have been fishing for a long time. Its been raining for 2 days and I decided to service a few of my reels, some will just get fresh mono. These are all actively fished at least once in a while, I do have a few shelfies Ill post later. I've bought everything locally so far and its taken a while to get started.
That's quite a collection :o
Joe
Thank you sir. I feel like Im just getting started. To see some of the knowledge on this site, I'm humbled to say the least.
This is one of the few I've been able to find in a box and possibly unused, not real old but...
Anyone heard of Jayhawks, the retail store that last reel came from. Just curious what region it originated from
Well, that's a pretty good start. Ya know its pretty easy to get carried away. My thoughts are, if you know you have a problem, your aware of it, then its actually is no problem at all.
That's my justification when I purchase more reels!
Nice collection. Keep at it and its really a lot of fun.
Regards, .. Lou
I started to get questions from people, like "What do you do with them all?" and "You like the old ones?" I had to admit I'm a collector.
Can anyone give me an approx date of this 12/0 with a black plain sideplate and white handle.
Great collection brother....about the only date I can give on the 12/0 is newer than 1950 based on the presence of part numbers and being a second generation Senator.....other than that I cannot give a better date ....if you had the original box or catalogue we could get pretty close....Bill from the Sacramento Delta.....ohhh and welcome to the Darkside, no turning back now ;D ;D
Hi, my name is Mark and I'm a reelaholic except that that sounds like a problem and it isn't.
Hello and welcome , some collection !
As I recall a Jayhawker was/is someone from Kansas , maybe the store is there ??????
Buzz
thanks for the comments guys.
I'm starting to think the 12/0 is a 70's era reel. Can anyone confirm or deny?
It could be, but without paper documents or box no really way to pin it down.....Bill
Thanks Bill. I was just basing that off another reel someone was selling as 70's era but you're right, too many variables to 100% ID. For some reason, I'm starting to obsess about the dates of some of these reels. Haha
Haha "somewhat new to reel collecting" not too shabby for a newbie can't wait to see ya collection when you get serious about it😹
That's quite a collection! How long did you say you've been collecting for again? ;D

Kansas Red Legs!
Red Legs and Jay hawkers were not initially the same or reffered to as such , at least not early on in the history of either group . That did change later on .
I was only reffering to the post civil war era when the term was used to refer to people of Kansas.
Bruce
70's is about right for the 12/0. Not before if handle is original to the reel.
