Check this out, it will become a ground rainbow - What? Never heard of the term??
Get in line, me too!!!!
Never heard of one, never seen one... Until this week.
It began as a low lying, colored mist. Can you see it??

Here a normal view photo.

It is beginning to get brighter.

Here, it is bright and all the colors of a rainbow, with a slight curve.

Is this not the dangest thing you've ever seen??? For me, for sure.

And about 3 minutes later, it was gone. Like it never existed.
Damned interesting.

Must be over San Francisco, Wayne?
Best,
Fred
Fred,
It is looking over San Mateo.
With no clouds, center of photo you'd be looking at Oakland,
SF is to the left - but then that makes sense!
Wayne
WOW!!! :o :o That is spectacular, I've seen double Rainbows but never a Rainbow like that. Thank you for sharing that.

Do I have to chastise you for that political comment. :D Those sneaky tongue in cheek comments are pretty cheeky. ::) That is a spectacular view that Wayne has. If you look out the back window of my house you can see the west wall of the San Andreas Fault but after the next "big one" I'll have ocean front property. :D Dominick
Or else you'll fall in the crack. ;) ;D ;D

Very cool! In order for a rainbow to be visible, the sun has to be behind you. This "ground rainbow" is visible because the sun was behind you, there were lots of water droplets in the air, and it's near the ground because you are at such a high elevation viewing it.

I expected to see trout going into a grinder, but this is much better ;) thanks
I was thinking the same thing....fish burgers and all....cool pic....Bill
