Hi Friends,
This is an off topic question that i find no better place to ask than here since anytime I need a information about lubricant, I come here.
I have lots of flash lights that I use for everything including fishing, the tail cap on all of them has the "O" ring, therefore, I lube the threads and the "O" rings.
Some of the "O" rings are made out of silicone, so I use pure silicone grease on the threads and "O" rings.
Recently I came across to this statement which I would like any input.
"O-Ring Compatibility
Use caution when using petroleum products, as they can damage some types of o-rings.
Don't use silicone lubes on silicone o-rings. The o-rings can swell and make your light almost impossible to get open.

Google 'o-ring material compatibility' and you will get any number of tables that show the compatibility of various fluids with the o-ring materials. Off the top of my head I haven't heard of many materials at all being incompatible with silicone grease, it is used almost universally in non specialized mechanical applications.

I use INOX spray from Australia on my tactical and weapons mounted flashlights. Its veggie based and rated for use in the food industry on machines that come into contact with consumables. It hasn't effected or degreaded an o ring yet.

Caution: INOX may effect some natural rubber products with continual long term use.
Just a word of caution. I have seen Inox MX3 badly deteriorate some rubber paddle handles on certain baitcasters, particularly some ABUs.
I doubt that these are natural rubber, so clearly it does affect some synthetic compounds.

On O rings, I have used Black Magic, Tire Wet, and ArmorAll --
All work decent.

I'm partial to Dow Corning 111 (#7) silicone lube, good stuff
If you ever wrap rods don't have silicone grease in the house/shop - don't ask me how I know - it will kill your efforts with epoxy finishes.

The D C 111 works great on Steam Valves & Chilled water Valves when I rebuilt them. It's thick & won't move with normal Temperatures.

I'll try armorall as Fred mentioned. I'll try to get the thickest one so it won't run to the circuits.
I was very close to use reel X since it says that it won't damage plastics and rubber.
There are some flashlight forums I go to and they use super lube which I believe to be the same as the Abu silicote which I also have.
I love Flashlights but not as much as my reels 😄

Haha, I have lots of silicone lube. Silicone grease, silicone oil. Not sure if they are suitable for flashlights though
