Xtra wide reels must be a Hawaiian thing. For me, narrower is better!

Sweet reels brother....as said above, the Hawaiians seem to like the wide reels....why is that? Not knocking them, just curious as to why?  Bill

Great lookin wides. Good question. Guess: Surf/rock fishin needs strength n' line capacity, especially if you're after Uluas. I use a surf style spinner to toss 2-3 oz. swimmin plugs for shore fishin, but'll probably change if I ever hook a tackle bustin big 'un.

The extensions are for line capacity and to still have a reel that you can get your hands around and make pratical to cast. That's just my reason (or excuse ) ;) to soup up and extend the reels .
