I decided to take the kayak out today on the Occoquan River ( Northern Virginia) and enjoy some time on the water. The temps had dropped nearly 30 degrees from yesterday. I downsized my gear and went finesse. 4 pound test, 1/32 oz tube jigs, focusing around docks near a natural drop off-I managed a dozen crappie, a half dozen small bass, and a few bluegill. It was nice to be out on the water, and I kept a few for dinner. The three I kept became part of the meal with jalapeƱo cornbread, three bean salad, and a beer I brewed myself ;)

Looks like you did well all the way around!
looks like fun! next time you're out, grab a couple of pictures of the river. i'd love to see what it looks like!!!! ;D
Will do, Alan. It's a short rocky river that crosses the Fall Line and feeds into the Potomac. It's good spot for kayaks.
Man, those Calico fillets look mighty good! :)
