Title: Red Cabezon
Post by: the rockfish ninja on May 28, 2017, 06:08:55 PM
I realize many of our members live and fish in exotic places that have very colorful fish, but for rockfisherman like me here in Northern California unless we catch a Vermillion, most of the fish we pull up are usually gray, silver-ish, or just some mottled olive/gray/Brown looking things. They all taste great but every once in a blue moon you pull in something that makes you say "what the heck is that?, wow that's beautiful."

I had read about the rare red Cabezon, and caught hundreds of Brown, olive gray, and blue-ish ones, but this was the first red. Not a big guy but very pretty for these waters and type of fish, released and hoping he fertilizes a lot of eggs out there.
