Title: Penn 9M-LH
Post by: GoIslanders on May 17, 2011, 11:47:09 PM
Inspired by what I saw on this board, I took apart my Penn 9M-LH.  I was feeling a little gutsy so I went for it.  It basically unused; I got it off of Craigslist.  I was playing with the reel a while back, and I noticed that the anti-reverse wasn't working.  When I took it apart, the dog spring fell out, amongst other things.  How does the dog & dog spring go back in?  It seems very confusing as it's a little piece of metal, not a coiled spring like on the 209.

THANKS!!!

Congratulations on jumping in and welcome!
The dog spring rests against the dog and the sideplate as shown in this tutorial for the Penn 113H/114H.

Look at the 27th photo (or thereabouts) and follow Alan's instructions.
Yeah, if the grease has hardened and won't let the spring push against the dog, or if the spring just popped out of place (it happens) then you've got a knucklebuster.
