Most times, when someone sets out to improve on a tried and true design, they only strengthen the original product's charisma. Well...enter the Cortez Conversions Classic 146 Squidder. This is a Squidder taken to a state of nirvana. This kit will not disappoint!
I chose the Ice Blue color and decorated it with a stock Penn spool, a Motive Fab offset handle, and a Pro Challenger 45mm knob. Under the hood you'll find Tom's stainless steel gear sleeve and dog, a near mint moly steel main gear donated by a closet find Delmar 285, new pinion, yoke, and jack from Scott's, and Bryan's 5-stack kit.
Just to think that you could still find NOS parts for a design this old is amazing, but to have these fine manufacturers making so many custom parts is hard to believe. Thanks folks for making a dream reel possible. 8)
Now that is one beautiful customized Squidder! Bravo, Mo... :D

Looks really cool and really nice little reels without all that jazz.
That's too pretty to fish with. ;D
Great work Mo.
Love that Blue.
Been having some thoughts for sometime regarding this exact reel. What's the max fishable drag on this reel ?

I'm sure Tom's reel can handle any power the drivetrain can produce. It has the same package under the hood that I've used in a few other reels. It will make 15lbs. on average...sometimes a bit more. This 259 "99 Wide" River King made 19lbs. with the same gear/drag stack package. Now that wasn't on a long run, just pulled by hand, and recorded on the scale. 8)
Very cool color combination !!!
Love the blue Mo! Great job.

Beauty! Well done!
very nice!
Mo incredible....now time to catch some big cats.... bill
Beautiful reel Mo,
Where is The meat I mean The cats
Beautiful ice blue squidder Mo! Do teds levels work with these or is it smaller than a jigmaster lever?
Aloha,
Kyle
Looks great, bet it fishes even better!
I found a rod that pairs very well with Tom's Squidder. It's a Berkley Inshore 7ft. MH fast action.
Since this is a graphite rod I doubt the cats will see it, this rod is better suited to casting big plugs and spoons for Muskie/Hybrid Striper/Lunker Bass. I spooled up with 25lb. Trilene XT. 8)

Sorry John, it's officially fishing season, no work during playtime is my #1 rule
Mo, that is sweet and sexy all in one. Nicely done !!
That's one beautiful Squidder, just curious how much total that conversion cost you.
:) That is a sweet rig , the stick complements the reel . Nice choice!!!! Lots of enjoyment to follow . joe
Yo Mo way to go. Dominick
I got the handle mod all finished on my CC Squidder. I had worked out most of the bugs on Joe's Squidder thread, now I even have the lock screw fitment solved. I found a washer that fits right into the scallops of a Penn handle screw...bingo...that was easy! This handle will be great for Musky and Bass fishing.8)
Looks great Mike to good to fish with, cheers Don.
