I am looking for an information on making my own. Any ideas tips or tricks appreciated! Looking to keep costs low so any item that can be can be found in a hardware store on the cheap would be great. looking to make a couple of sets for my personal reels. I'd like to use a brass cylinder for my crank knob, maybe offset a little or maybe offset the crank instead. I have some basic tools.
I finally gave up trying to find a counter-balanced handle for my Torque 100, but it never occurred to me to make my own. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for ideas and will let you know if I come up with any myself.

No worries, hop on! I think most of the aluminum stock I find in the box stores may be too soft, and will either bend or get worn out real quick at the shaft.
Look for brass stock in the hardware store ,hobby store ,online metal supply , K and S is one of the most frequent one`s In the mean time make your template and gather ure screws and what nots . Have fun . joe
Puhi, you may consider McMaster Carr for material. Although some aluminums are heat treatable, that's out of the realm of most DIY ers unless you have a facility in your area.
There is also some 7000 series stuff and that can be very tough but a royal pain to work with. McMaster gives a rough breakdown on some of the materials and their properties and this may give you a bit of guidance as what to choose.

Thanks for the recommendations! So one issue I am a concerned abut is my knob, it is cylindrical in shape, hollow but only one end is open. The open side is tapered, and I want/wanted to put a sleeve inside for support. Right now, I think the easiest way is offset the arm instead of the knob.
