Henkel Alodine
Have anyone here tried DIY re-coating aluminum frame with this chemical?
I've very tempted to try, but shipping a pint across the pond cost me over $150 :-\
77 reader and no reply, guess no one tried it.
Now what do you fellow use to restore corroded reels?
Nuvole: Check out this thread. Never heard of Henkel Alodine. http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=1362.0 Dominick
yeah, never heard of it before. if it adds more than a couple of thousanths of an inch with of coating, it could create problems with the fit. is it a dipping process or spray?
For that amount of coin I think that I'd just buy another frame or rings.
So of my friends that restore old cars have had old parts rechromed.

Its an anodizing process....
Nope, I'll leave the anodizing process for the experts. Sometimes you can get in a batch of other parts at a reasonable price. Here is what I've found on the internet for DIYs http://www.focuser.com/anodize.html.
Like Alan said, a couple thousand's of an inch could make a difference.

Not successful so far, the liquid just slid off smooth surface :-[
