Title: Seigler sm
Post by: jaypeegee on September 02, 2017, 08:09:30 PM
Hi.
With the star wound right off. How much drag should be exerted on the SM.
On my Abu,Penn, akios it is zero.
On the SM it is substantial.

Does this seem normal or a possible assembly issue

The last top metal drag washer may be rubbing on the inside of the handle side cover. To find out install the star and tighten a bit to see if the drag loosens up.

Hi. It is a brand new reel. Not gonna pull it apart if this is atypical. I have read that the factory drag is high but no spool movement with the star wound off seems wrong somehow.

Hi

I have roughly a day left to commit to returning this reel to the states. If anyone has any experience with this reel and can confirm the drag as being noticeable when at star off position I would be super appreciative

Thanks

I have several reels that the drag has tension  with the drag backed out. How much is the question. If you can still pull out line by hand I wouldn't worry about it. It will break in after time. Grease the drags will help also.

I did a little research on your reel. It was called a truth reel. My experience with the company that deals in this reel is not so good. It may have a great warranty if you can get them to answer the phone. I don't have any faith in the people who run that place. The also sell Century rods.

Cheers

I live in New Zealand. My sister is returning to NY in a couple of days and I figured this wasn't right. There are no schematics available for part matching and comparison. So if I tear it down I  on my own.  Some folk here could Intuit what will be missing and to be fair I might also but the risk I'll miss the obvious is too high.
