Title: sealine 50sh????
Post by: kenstevens1 on September 20, 2017, 03:37:19 AM
Have sealine 50 slosh. It has narrow kit from accurate.  Wonderful reel and near perfect.  But there is a gear change out there. The sealine sg50h 4.9 gears are supposed to fit this reel. What parts do I need to do this changeover?  The stock gearbox has been shifted forward due to narrow kit, don't think this should affect anything. Help.

That is a great robust and easy reel to work on that I am very familiar with.   I think Daiwa is phasing it out.

I am not aware of any lower speed gears being available, but its quite possible that gears from some other model may fit.

Yes the gears will fit. Daiwa helped and schematic showed few differences.

This got my curiosity and I saw this on the auction site.  I use a Slosh30 for surf casting and love it.  Is this Accurate frame adapted from some other reel?

Factory by accurate. Have 2 blue frame versions. 4,9-1 gear will fit in 50 series. Great irons gear ratio

I recall when that frame came out about 2001.  There was an orange one in accurate catelog.  I think it won an ICAST award.

Great reel!  Smooth, fast and strong enough.  I now have two of them with handle upgrades for deep (150 ft. plus) wreck fishing.  They would probably work well for deep drop - tile fishing.

What kind of fishing requires lowering the gear ratio? Anyone know the limitations of the stock gears?

Sealine reels are very good, I think they originated from a watch making company, as the early sealines, had Daiwa Seiko on them, I can say, the 900 daiwa seiko has the same size metal drag washers as the large penn senator 6/0 drags, & the 900H is the same, very strong solid reels, cheers Don.
