I'm working with a Calstar classic 270-8 with deck hand butt. The cork tape is covered by a single layer of X wrap. My Tiburon framed 112h will not fit unless I bend the clamp studs. My smaller tib framed reels fit fine since they have the mounting blocks on the frame that can be set narrow or wide.
I seem to remember seeing somewhere that clamp studs were made with an offset, similar to a dog leg. Anybody address this issue?

Yes I have the cork puppy for this rod. It's the width of the reel frame studs that won't go around the rod butt.
I have never fished a 112 but the only stock offset clamp studs I remember were on the Daiwa Saltist and Saltiga 30T reels.
