Post by: ballsie on June 18, 2011, 08:22:41 AM
hi all , just wondering if anyone has changed the ratio of a trinidad 40. I want to reduce it for bottom bashing. currently using a penn 6/0 and would like to use a ratio around a 3:1.
yes i know i could use a 4/0... just thought i would put it out there.
thanks ben

sorry, i do not know of a replacement gear set for the trinidad.  if you wanted something similar to the trinidad, you would go with a narrow frame and spool kit for the 6/0 penn 114h.  they are VERY expensive, but might fit the bill.

Ocea Jigger 4000P is the same size as the Trinidad 40 and has a 4.1:1 ratio rather than 4.9:1, it also has a longer handle arm effectively lowering the ratio further.  Not sure if it's just a matter of replacing the main and/or pinion, probably can only get the parts from Japan.
