Title: George Forman 9/0
Post by: thorhammer on November 28, 2017, 03:19:30 AM
No grill.  But this old fighter has steel gears so popped in carbontex,  handle from Dan, and silver Cortez frame from Tom. New SS brace hardware. Ready to knock you out never mind a few age scrapes.

Btw Back to Black works nicely on these handles.

John

Please let me know how well the Cortez frame works!

Well, I wish I could say I have taxed the other one, but no. Tom's machining is first rate and we've banged some nice catches on the Cortez 4/0's and Jiggy's. There's no doubt it's a game changer; with steel gears and post you can do about what you want to. I have 80 topshots with 100lb braid under and this reel wont sweat.

Your 9/0 reel looks like a new model Penn that they didn't make. Really like the black and sliver, old school Penn look. And the Tib handle tops it off perfect.

Nicely done, John! She will no doubt suit your needs well as I have seen some of the catches that Erik has made with Tom's 9/0 frames and I'm impressed.
BTW, You don't have a problem with tackle collecting, you have a passion ...it's much worse.  I know the feeling. ;)
Beautiful gear ya got there,
Dom

Ohana,
And might I just add, when talking about Tom's frames that we don't forget about the  Squidder....in "green"...which might be the(http://alantani.com/gallery/22/thumb_17022_16_10_17_12_35_06.jpeg) (http://alantani.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=22085) coolest reel I'll ever own for flying sardines....

Nice Work John.
Something about that Silver and Black.
I have an original Accurate Framed 9/0 with all the goodies.
It is one of my all time favorites. ;)
Not trying to one up you, but you have to see it.

Naw Alan, out of control would be having enough red and black Jiggys for a game of checkers....that would be twelve each I think. See, the red box only has 11. I'm ok....

uh oh....there's a red I missed....

Well, you can be sure if Daron was closer we'd get a twelver of cold Natty Daddy and paint up a piece of plywood for a game board....

BTW, that's the sweet 99 you gave me, front and center, that sent me down that particular rabbit hole of Pennicana..

What do you mean one up...that's funny considering I've been trying to get vault pics out of you for two years; I expect it will take you a bit longer now to get all that done lol. I can look at these builds all day. Now I just want some Keta cranks...

Apologies to Mr. Foreman, it was late and left out the "E".

John - Looks great...

You sir have a condition...it's called reelhoginitis...don't worry it's not contagious...but it is consuming.  It eats up money and time out in the yard...not sure if there is a cure yet...my wife is still searching as well.  ;D

Amazing collection of users you've got there...I'd say one of those photos needs to go for photo of the month just for sheer time in building them all!

I like the silver frame!  Is it stock under the plate?
Title: Re: George Forman 9/0
Post by: thorhammer on November 28, 2017, 02:55:24 PM
Yes, this one is stock besides carbontex kit and SS washer kit. My other black-framed one has SS sleeve. I will eventually put one in this build. With the new drags and the Tib handle you can get pretty good torque on it.

Thanks, Moe. I'm just a mechanic, a not especially good one, putting the pretty lego's together that our Ohana creates. I have some issues on Peerless 9 builds yesterday, please take a look at that thread and see if you have insight.

I respectfully disagree, this disease is contagious as it gets!  You don't even need direct contact with a carrier.
All you have to do is read posts and look at pictures and WHAM!  You got it.

Alan, look at the usual list of the suspects here...they're ALL already toast, except Drew, who may stand a chance, but not much based on the three PM's I just got from him. Those reels have parts from you, Sal, Daron, Ted, Dan, and Drew, all on this thread, lol. And Nick, Randy, Sid and Tom haven't seen it yet...

Sal, you would be correct :) There's a WWO reel bag I got from Alan that's full of hot rod stuff not on rods yet.

Ted, you, sir, are being coy... I know my little collection is about 1/8 of yours.

I saw this post, just carefully peeking into the rabbit hole. I finally got Thea to say, you need a better way to store your fishing stuff. I think that is as close to approval as I need for more stuff!
