Some WIP acrylics for members that are on their way to being completed.
Counterbore and trim to length on the spinner tube, make the shafts, (all of these will be flanged for xtra strength) and the final polish should be completed before the end of the month, hopefully.
#1 Dom's rainbow pearl
#2 Steve's Green gold/ black inlace
#3 Nick's light blue ribbon swirl
#4 Sheridan's orange/black strainer
Since I've gone to the sponge backed 3000 grit Trizact along with several finishing polishes, I believe the polish is about as best that one can get. Overall its a very deep, smooth lustre.
The supplier has some new colors that are on backorder, but I'm on the list! One is a red/silver black strainer (amazing), I have the purple strainer and hope to make a knob for the Super Narrow 113H out of it, and there's also a semi translucent orange/black and blue black that's a real knockout. I am mixing small amounts of Acrylic in house and only 2 of my suppliers are mixing. Everything else is imported now.
From what I've been told, regulations are becoming difficult here so it looks like we will eventually be stuck with the offshore stuff!
OK All, a few more hours work and its time for wine and a soak. Lucked out on the snow and only got around 6 inches. The tub n wine will make the old bones feel better!
Have a great evening, .. Lou
i'm always mesmerized by this stuff. What is that lure made from?
Truly a skilled artist
Nick, I really like wooden plugs. I buy them, build them, trade them and collect them. Probably for over 45 yrs now.
Love catching on old vintage stuff .............. Thanks, Lou
Very cool ;D
Wow, Lou! That one on the end for Sheridan is gorgeous! About that soak, is it a bath tub or a hot tub? I've just finished adding an ozone generator to my hot tub and should get some replacement jets today, that'll put me back in business and keep me upright for awhile (I soak and stretch morning and night to be able to move in the morning. Now that the temperature has dropped its a special treat to go out and soak in 103F water with 40-something degree air). It's become a ritual....
Is that a mother of pearl front left ?? ......WOW !!
....and how long does it take you to polish each one ?? They all look like gemstones. The handle and star are polished too. Top notch stuff Lou. Hope you get your supplier straitened out.
Sensational Lou - love 'em!
Thanks All!
Ted, its a 3 color (rainbow) pearl with hints of blue, green and pink, ... really classy. Some blue pearl came in last week but haven't had time to machine it up yet.
The polishing takes forever. The higher finish surface will show the tiniest of imperfections so I stay at it until I'm happy with the results. Unfortunately the hands take a beating as you well know.
Sid, the orange strainer has turned out to be a very nice color. With the high polish the depth is spectacular. The new purple strainer color is just WOW!
No hot tub here so its a general soak in the tub with a large glass of wine. Your regimen sounds much better than mine. Do you have a cup holder for the wine?
Fortunately I have a full bath in the shop basement so when I finish work, its soak time, wine, and some fresh clothes.
I'll post Sheridan's orange when its finished.
All have a great day, .. Lou
Yes, Lou, there's a cup holder for the wine. I start and end each day in the spa, but the wine is saved for the end of the day :) The last few months I've been feeling the discomfort of sacroiliac arthritis and the heat and stretching have been miraculous (after the steroid injection directly into the joint). Getting older isn't for sissies.... I'm hoping it eventually settles down so I don't need so much maintenance, but it's finally become manageable and not activity-restricting.
