Title: Penn 704 Spinfisher vintage Greenie
Post by: JnM Fishing on December 14, 2017, 10:15:53 PM
I was thinking about scooping one of these vintage 704 "greenies" up on ebay. I was wondering what upgrades ( if any) are available to make the reel perform better and what kind of drag i could expect from one?

There are any upgrades to my knowledge that would make it perform any better. They still build them the same way.

Bryan on this forum has a 5 stack drag upgrade that really works. 5 carbon washers instead of 3.

Cosmetically people drill out the rotor Van Staal style. That's not a bad idea. The 704 has no means of draining water inside the rotor while the 706 does.
