Title: TDA 153HSTL Thumb Bar not returning all the way
Post by: Donnelly on July 08, 2011, 09:59:58 PM
Hi,

Does anyone know why one of the thumb bars on one of my 153HSTL's is not snapping all the way up when I make the first crank of the handle?

I clean them regularly and when I took it apart today I see nothing obviously broken or dirty.

It snaps up most of the time just enough that the reel funtions but once in a while it does not return enough to engage the spool.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ed

here is your schematic.  http://daiwa.com/PartsDiagram/PartsDiagram/TDA153HSTL.pdf   take a look at key #43, the clutch trip plate.  it has to get kicked around by key #67, the anti-reverse ratchet.  pop the right side plate and watch it engage (or not).  that should give you the answer.  alan

Sorry for the late response.

Thank you Alan. I realized it was a simple fix by simply tightening Key number 42 (Clutch cam screw) that had come loose several turns.
