Title: Name that gear
Post by: SirMixALot on March 01, 2018, 04:05:05 PM
Hey guys and gals I have a small question. I upgraded my 501 a while back and I can't remember what gear I put in it. I'm cleaning it up to use it this season some more instead of the space reels I have just to show these darn kids where their reels came from.  It has the same amount of teeth as a standard 500 bronze gear but is recessed on the bottom. Not enough to fit a regular size washer though. Can someone please help me identify it?  PENN is on the right. Thanks in advance.
By the way I really enjoy all of the oldies you guys post on here.

Oh, not sure on this at all. Is that a Newell gear design? I tried searching images that way but no luck

It's not as tall as the Newell p332 4 stack gear on the left. The Newell gear also seems a big larger around than the penn one.

It sort of looks like a plated surfmasters gear.  But it would be using squidder sized drags and wouldn't mesh.  I'm assuming it's a 501 not a narrowed 250?

Could be an accurate gear
