Title: Fishing hook method for bearings
Post by: Scattergun2570 on March 29, 2018, 01:53:55 AM
I searched a dozen times, but I cannot seem to get results using search function. Where is the Alan Tani fish hook method to open the bearings?

It is probably in one of Alan's early tutorials.  So it would be extremely difficult to find.  The fish hook method only works on the bearings that have a split ring holding the seal in place.  All you have to do is put the point of the hook in the split and remove the ring.  If you are going to put the seal back on use a sharp knife to gently pry out the seal.  It is simple.  Like Nike says "just do it."  Dominick

Go to the home page.
Use the search function and type in "bearings".
This is an old post from Alan, but it is all you need for any type of reel bearing.

Good job Daron.  I didn't have the time to really dig for that.  Scattergun does this do it?  Dominick
