Love these pics, they must have made so many in their days...

Very nice older reel.   Looks new.🙋‍♂️  And what is with the black and white pictures.  Maybe these were some of the good old days?  Approximately when was the factory advertising pictures done?   Great quality spinners.👍

Really nice combo, Sal!

Gary — have you ever used one of these up in Alaska?

Best,

Fred

That Super appears to be in mint condition.  Plenty of these for sale online but not too many in immaculate condition as that one, Sal.

Nice pic of the engineering and design department.  That was the good ole days when ideas were drawn by hand, not a computer.

Nice Sal! I've got that booklet too and posted here somewhere...

In my few 970's I've noticed 2 type of spools.

one has a single drag washer (the 2 piece spool if I recall...)

other is a multi drag spool with room, I think, for a 5 stack of Adam's thin ones when we get them

I'm away from the reels so forgive me any errors please

Steve

Wow! That's a nice find! For those of us not in the know, is that one of the largest DAM reels? Size comparison to a 704Z?
I hear lots of praise for the DQ's, so I've got my eyes peeled if I stumble on one around here🐟

Nice reel Sal....
I'm not the collector type , but that kind of deal could sway me to the other side.

Thanks guys!
The reel is mint, but there is a small spot where the paint is missing on the foot.
I'm thinking the owner probably had it mounted on a rod for display, it definitely has never been fished.

Yes, I was lucky to find the complete package, this one also came with an extra spool.

Brett, I would say same size as the 704.
Both mentioned are great reels, but this one to me has a little more muscles.
The problem with the Dam/ Quick reels, you need routine maintenance and not just toss it aside until the next fishing season.
You keep up with it and it will last you forever.
