Title: Diawa Sealine 600H drag washers
Post by: Deepsouth on April 25, 2018, 02:27:15 AM
Cleaning a reel for a friend. He doesn't want to upgrade the stock drag washer. After cleaning them should they be greased? They are some type of hard thick fiber, reminds me sort of asbestos. Thanks for any info.

They are asbestos.
The drag will be sticky when it heats up if you grease them or not.
The drag upgrade from Bryan Young and the stainless sleeve from Cortez Conversions will make this reel bulletproof.
A three stack to a 5 stack of carbon fiber will make it smooth as silk.

May also want to contact Daiwa for two delrin washers; one for the undergear and one for between the top metal washer and the spacing sleeve if there is intent to exceed 20lbs drag.
