Title: Penn Baja Special conversion question
Post by: Iron City on August 13, 2011, 01:42:52 AM
Been a Penn collector and done a bit of reel repair for about 12 years...just found the board today and am blow away by the content.

My question, being a lefty fisherman is about the Baja Special, and converting it to a left hander.  Looking at the pics in the tutorial just now it appears that if I just flip the ratchet over on the sleeve, flip the dogs and dog springs it should work.

I realize the drag wheel will be reversed, and the issue with helical cut gears, but I have had a Inernational that I converted and have never had an issue with the gearing.

Let me know if I am missing anyhting.

Again awesome site!

there is a left handed star, gear sleeve, pinion gear and a main gear.  the dog flips around easily.  i think i actually might have those parts.  alan
