Title: Quick fix/upgrade to your old penn reels with the copper strip spring dog...
Post by: ReelSpeed on August 13, 2011, 02:49:07 AM
Hey guys, just thought I would throw this out there for ya.. If you ever need a quick fix for a lost/broken/bent copper strip spring in the old Penn reels, here is a good idea.  If you have an old tape measure laying around, just get some scissors and cut the strip out of the tape measure steel.  Since it is steel, you will need to grease it to help with possible rust...but besides that, it should be a better spring and last a lot longer than the copper ones.  Give it a shot and let me know what you think!

Strips of  stainless steel razor blades worked for me.
