Title: jerky drag
Post by: hasbeen on August 26, 2011, 04:06:46 PM
Bought an Okuma Cedros 15S and right out of the box drag was jerky when I held the spool and turned the handle with drag lever set to strike position. any thoughts

Tried spooling some line on and pulled against the drag and same scenario. I also increased the drag preset and the jerky drag moved above the strike position. Full drag and light drag settings the jerky drag was not noticeable.

Not an accurate indication at all, IMO. If/when I do the same with a reel(not Okuma), it can feel bumpy but it's smooth as butter when pulling line off. Spool some line on, set the drag and have somebody pull on it.
