Title: Setting up my shop
Post by: Reel 224 on October 04, 2018, 12:38:37 AM
I have been working on setting my rod and reel shop for some time now, I have just added a new section that is for machine work. The lathe is new and the tool cabinet also. I had an old lathe and milling machine for years that was second hand and is worn out, so I am replacing those a little at a time.

These are pictures a my shop so far. It's a work in progress............................Joe

Guys it doesn't matter what you work area is, it's the work you can produce any were. I am retired and had plenty of time to accumulate lots of tools over many years, and as some of you know I had a gun smith work shop for many years. So I have had a start on all these things. That lathe is new but it replaces an old one.

You guy produce some pretty amazing things in your own right. I like to tinker with making parts and producing custom things that you can not get normally so I will try to make things in the future so I can make different as others do on site.

Thanks for the complements.........................Joe

Lou: I've made a few spacers for some of the older Penn reels and it was very easy and fun for a start to get used to the lathe and it's accuracy. I'm sure I can get up to speed with working with it soon.

Great start Joe. That lathe looks like fun. I bet you are like a kid in a candy store.

I'm assuming you'll eventually build a nice sturdy bench for it. I'm sure you already have a few things in mind to make. Looking forward to results

Very nice Joe, I hope you get many years of enjoyment from it.
Now, weren't you moving or am I wrong?

Best,

Nice set up Joe, everyones dream to have a lathe, including me, not that i could use one properly, just remember no matter what size shed we build, it will still be to small, keep well & get many years of use out of it, cheers Don.

You are right Sal. We were, but at 74 & 72 and our life is invested here we have decided to keep our roots planted were they have prospered and grown in this state for better or worse we are staying, God willing we will try to make the best we can of it.

It looks like a professional model. A lot better than anything I've ever come across.

Boy, you must have had some pile of dental work done.  ;D
