Title: Spool corrosion
Post by: DC on January 21, 2019, 11:33:31 AM
Some of my reels are starting to get corrosion on the bottom of the spool.  Currently servicing a TLD50. Using a paper towel soaked with salt away (wrapped around the spool) it looks like I've removed the corrosion but still left with pitting.
What's the best way to deal with this before respooling?  Just wax it or try to paint it and then wax over that then something like lanolin or boeshield?
Thanks

You can paint it after proper prep or just wax or grease it once the anodizing is eaten through to retard any further corrosion. Nothing is 100% positive but that's as close as you can get.           Rudy
