I stopped by Alan's this weekend and picked up a few knobs from him, the upgrades took me about 30 mins for both reels. I hated the football knobs and the only upgrade in my opinion these reels needed was a Alan Tani handle!

Ahh yup, the single upgrade I think this reel needs. Aside from that, love the price of these reels.

Does anyone know if the new Fathom LD2 power handles (II series) are a direct replacement for the egg knob? I looked on Mystic's site and they don't have parts yet for the new II series.
Haven't played with them yet. I've seen only one of these reels. The drag range was not as high as I had hoped.
Got any ideas on how to get more drag out of a FTHIILD2?
stiffer bellevilles always work, but then the pinion bearing starts to seize up. there is just a limit to what these smaller reels can do.
The FTHIILD2 is ABU5000 size, a tiny 2 speed. I will tinker with the bellevilles. I would like to fish it as a 30# reel but will be happy with it fishing 20# or 25#.
