Title: Stock Carbontex on Saltest 20H and 30H?
Post by: Dan N. on September 17, 2011, 02:59:39 AM
After reading through the tutorials and testimonials about the superiority of greased Carbontex drags, I decided to redo the drags on my four Daiwa Saltest reels. I have the 20H, 30H, 40 and 50.

The 40 and 50 had the same "easy to tear" drag washers that are shown in Alan's tutorial pictures. However, I'd swear the 20H and 30H already had Carbontex drags. They had the same texture and were definitely greased.

I went ahead and swapped them out but I'm saving the old ones just in case.

My reels are the older silver model (see image).

Is Daiwa shipping the 20H and 30H with Carbontex drags as stock?

A year or two ago, daiwa switched to greased carbon fiber without telling a soul.  Guess they didn't want to have to admit a mistake......

I did a little write up on what I found with my BG 20h.
