Title: Thread size on Penn 535 gear sleeve?
Post by: lightj12 on October 19, 2011, 05:43:00 PM
I peened the drag star (machined portion onto stamped star) on this reel to tighten up the assembly -assembly was loose when I purchased this reel second hand. In doing so, I distorted the threads in the machined portion of the star. Does anyone know the thread size on this gear sleeve so I can tap out the threads on the drag star? Would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeremy

Solved the problem by counter-sinking out the portion of damaged threads & was able to thread it back on the gear sleeve. The threads are an odd-ball size on the order of 3/8" x 32 tpi; not the same size as a Penn 500 gear sleeve. Well I saved myself $11.00 + $5.00 shipping & handling which was my objective. The motivation for this was from this great site. Thanks.
