Title: Diawa Sealine 400 Drag Question
Post by: xaf on November 01, 2011, 03:29:27 AM
Does anyone know if the original fiber drag washers for a Diawa Sealine 400 need to be installed dry or greased?

They usually self-destruct when greased.

That's a worry Rob.
I've done a few of these and usually apply a very light coat of Cal's - if only to preserve the metal washers from saltwater intrusion.
I always bench-test the drag before returning and haven't come across any failures to date - but that's not to say it hasn't happened.
Are you referring to washers like this?

Justin,
I was referring to the paper-type. The type you're showing can take grease. Sorry about the confusion. :-\
Cheers!

the original drag material is pressed wood or particle board and i've had nothing but trouble with them.  they have to stay dry.  it would be best to switch them out to to greased carbon fiber.   :-\
