All the Photobucket shot I see on here are so blurry as to be useless, am I doing something wrong or is that just the way it is. Thanks.
use firefox or chrome and add the photobuck add in to get around their bleeping new make you have an account.
I just noticed that on a different forum
is botophucket trying to extort $$$, again?
Yep, Photobucket stinks! They are holding our photos hostage if you're using more than something like 25MB. They want you to pay like $400 per yr. :o
Others have changed their way of posting using other means cause Photobucket continues to do stuff like this.
Dom
yep, that the way photobucket is working-showing pics currently
Every time I see one of my old posts with burry photobucket pics I edit the post with new pictures, normally use the "attachment" option.
Dump Photobucket.
When something is free in this day and age -- we can expect it to change at any moment to a profit oriented system -- nothing wrong with that.
We just need to know this as well as be ready for the rug to be pulled out from under us -- and not be surprised when it happens.
We need to be the Master of our own destiny -- as best we can. Basically in control as much as possible.
We can rely on others -- but even that changes over time.
Hard work, smart work, and being able to judge things accurately are important.
My grandmother used to tell me --
"I started out with nothing -- and still have most of it left..."
Like Lee sez -- dump photobucket -- get something else that works better -- that YOU are in control of -- and move on...
Just my opinions...
Best,
Fred
I refuse to be forced into installing another extension into my browser just to get around this.DUMP Photobucket!!!
If you use the AT gallery then your photo should remain with your post for as long as the AT site is alive. I should do that too, but instead use an option that is quicker for me.
It would be an easy decision if only we could predict how the technology and commerce will evolve.

Yes, sometimes free apps become pay apps, but what Photobucket has done is exceptionally nasty. I don't recall anything quite as bad in my long years of IT experience.
Is anyone aware of an astute computer whiz who has conjured up a new edition of a Photobucket add-on fix so these older photos can be unblurred?
As Steve (oc1) mentioned, uploading your photos to My Gallery and linking them to your post will assure they won't be held for ransom by Photobucket.
I also use the alantani.com image base for uploading any photos I want to use in a post. It's definitely the best way since it's part of the AT website.

Here is how I do it,
I use an extension in chrome, or firefox,
but I USE this browser ONLY for browsing, no bank or sensitive stuff.
as the extension can see stuff on your page,
This is the extension for chrome one can use.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/photobucket-hotlink-fix/kegnjbncdcliihbemealioapbifiaedg?hl=en
So here are the steps:
1. Install firefox browser
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
2. add the add on
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/photobucket-embedded-fix/?src=search
do the same for chrome if you want to use chrome.
I am confused here. I never have problems with photobucket. Just logged in again to see and no issue.

Thanks, Gobi King, that got 'r done. Now I recall going through that same procedure a couple years ago.
Photo bucket has blurred out many of the pics on long time threads. Some will never be resurrected, as some members are no longer with us. My favorite thread of all time has basically been destroyed by photo bucket....very sad.
Pictures tell a thousand words, especially when dealing with antique reels and teardown tutorials. I clicked on "Penn senators from the beginning" and was very sad to see pics from Ray Hodges are blurred. He posted pics of many rare reels from his collection. I've used his pics for reference many times, but those days are gone. I really miss Ray, and now photobucket is erasing his legacy, along with many others who have so generously added their wisdom to this forum. I've never used photo bucket, and never will. RIP Ray Hodges
Ted
Newell,
This is what I see when I look at the first post of Penn Reels as you find them thread
As Gobi King advised us earlier, use Mozilla Firefox as your browser and install the Photobucket fix, and the photos will become unblurred.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/photobucket-embedded-fix/?src=search
I was having the same problem with blurred pics this morning but got it resolved.
Tried the add on and got this........
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Bob
Anyone know how it's done using safari?
Thanks
Dom
Bob, is that a Mac you're using? If so, you have to get all add-ons only from the Apple store, otherwise, problems.
Dom, same goes for you. If it's not in the Apple store, then it's not available for Safari.
this is fairly new/recent PB nastiness -- correct?
may take a couple weeks for Crome/Fox to update their add-ons
I've got a whole 12 pictures there and they say I'm over limit
Yes it is recent, I remember the opening photos of Superhook's "Penns as you find them" being sharp for on my screen. Thanks for the Apple Store tip. I could see the sense of photo storage sites when we had the smaller hard drives, but now the drives are huge, so why bother?
Cutty,
Maybe my link is expired, it seems the website is saying the checksum (??) or dig sig is invalid,
just to to firefox's add on download page and search for it and download it please.

Regardless of what's on your hard drive, you have to get the photo hosted somewhere on the internet for it to be available for others to see. It can be a photo-sharing site like Photobucket, the AT Gallery, your own web site, etc. But, even if you put your stuff on a photo-sharing site, you should still keep a copy on your personal hard drive so the pictures are not lost should one or the other of them go poof.

Yep a Mac here, tried the embed fix for fox, chrome, opera, & safari all a no go here. Dom any luck? Dusting off the windows machine for a try on that platform.
FYI, on my Mac now using the Opera browser with the Photobucket fix installed has eliminated the blur, the Photbucket overlay however remains.
The day Photobucket told me I had 30 days to pay them $400 or they would destroy my photos, I deleted them and ended my account. I now use Picture Trail on all forums. The first 20 pics are free. For $19 a year I have up to 500 available to post on forums. They also send me a weekly report telling me exactly how many views each photo has had during the week. It is easy to use and for me has been very reliable.

What is that? The reel I mean. Remarkable finish.
-steve
I downloaded all my photos from them and kicked photobucket to the curb.
They will meet their Demise for such a brash decision.
I hear it is free again and will never know. ;)
I use my iphone and no kind of hosting site, just find the photo in the gallery and post it. Is that bad? Should I be doing it another way? I'm pretty clueless about this stuff
