Title: Ceramic Pawl
Post by: K Nguyen on November 16, 2011, 09:40:59 PM
I need some help...

I need to order some ceramic pawls but cannot find any seller in U.S.  I know Mike's Reel Repair in Canada has them but shipping is 4 weeks out.  Does anyone know of a U.S. seller for ceramic pawls?

Thank you in advance.

Thank you for the input.  I checked both sites and hookless.com has the ceramic pawl, but only for the Abu can reels.  Thank you.

Ceramic pawl is harder and will last longer... may cause premature wear on the worm shaft though.  Pick your poison.  Less friction result in a quieter line guide.

Hi. In silty in-river fishing, metal pawls are prone to failure in less than one hard-core season. The ceramic pawls are generally priced at about doubvle that of a conventional, BUT....tend to last up to 5 times and even longer!
As mentioned above by KN.

In clear waters, same as, plus as mentioned earlier, less friction, and therefore smoother operation.

Mike's has the Shminao pawls, I believe for the calcuttas. His web site should show.
