Title: Old Surfmaster Gears
Post by: ReelPatina on February 09, 2020, 07:06:57 PM
I have two sets of Surfmaster gears pictured below, 1 with a clear  recess on the bottom out of a Surfmaster 100 and then a second  that is flat on the bottom out of a Surfmaster 200 . Steve below points out that he believes the 200 gear is just stuffed with drag washers. Looking at the lip on the hole I can see what could possibly be two layers , but on top there is noticeable separation between a gear and washer . I took a torch to it , I tried digging at it , I tried a dremmel .

Now that im glancing at web pages trying to find a cheap replacement for the 5-60 I just destroyed, it appears they either are all flat or the same evil elf jammed washers into all of them.

So which is it stuck washers or do I have different gears? If different gears which is preferred?

Are you sure the one that appears to not have a recess isn't just stuffed with old drag washers and grease?
