Title: quick 331
Post by: jigmaster501 on February 24, 2020, 02:46:16 AM
Have a quick question...lol

Can a Quick 331 be used with braid. Say 30lb braid..  The roller looks like carborundum.

If so, what would a likely drag number look like.

Thinking of using it for bucktailling fluke from a boat.

Building a rod and would like to use it. It was my grandfather's reel from the 60's.

Thanks.

Eugene

The roller is probably tungsten carbide. With the stock drag you should get around 10lb of drag. A bit more if you upgraded the resitex washers to carbontex.
The roller probably does not roll, but they are meant to be like that. The line guide"roller"is made from tungsten carbide so that anything softer than a diamond will not scratch or groove it.
If you keep it clean, your braid will be safe.
cheers
