Title: DAM Quick Junior
Post by: kiwiretzev on March 29, 2020, 06:05:51 AM
Hi again,

So I have an old Junior which needs a tidy up. Its probably not worth much, but I had one as a kid and would love to see it work again!

I'm relatively new to all of this, and the reel looks simple, but after cleaning it all out and re-lubing it etc, I still cant work out why I can only turn the handle half a turn.

Its like the axle is getting stuck perhaps in the bearing bushing. Can they bend/warp?  The axle itself looks ok.
The plastic/nylon gear looks to be in good shape also.

Was wondering if someone may have experienced this before?

First, make sure the raised stud/screw in the main gear is positioned in the recess in the crosswind block. If not the handle will stop turning when the block binds up against either end.

Thanks for the advice Tom.

It ended up being just an incorrect screw holding the cross wind block in place. This raised domed screw head didn't allow the raised stud in the main gear to work as it should. It would just jam.

All good now, and the reel is purring again !
