Title: Side plate screw size pitch/thread?
Post by: Puhi on June 20, 2020, 04:53:18 PM
Anyone know the size pitch/thread for the squidder 140?
Is the any screws I can buy from a hardware store?

side plate screws should be 5-40's.  finding them in stainless will be hard.  the average hardware might have them.  mysticparts.com would be a better bet.

How many you need, regular and the shorties that go into the stand?

Countersunk holes, right?

316 is more saltwater resistant, than 18-8, - but it may not matter enough to be worth it.

Penn used some different lengths, so the easiest thing to do is buy the longest that you need, and trim a few down.
The price for these are reasonable at McMaster, but the shipping charge is not specified.  It is a...surprise.  You find out after the charge and ship  ???

Fastenal is another option.  If you have a store nearby, you can order for free pickup.

https://www.fastenal.com/product/fasteners/screws/machine-screws/600059?categoryId=600059&level=3&aggregationSection=true&Dia%2FThread+Size=%235-40&Material=Stainless+Steel&showAll=Dia%2FThread+Size&selectedAggregation=Material (https://www.fastenal.com/product/fasteners/screws/machine-screws/600059?categoryId=600059&level=3&aggregationSection=true&Dia%2FThread+Size=%235-40&Material=Stainless+Steel&showAll=Dia%2FThread+Size&selectedAggregation=Material)  lookslike no hex drive.

Sometimes Amazon has good deals, but it takes a bit of digging to find the right screw there.

Buy a box of 100, and give 80 or so away :)
