Title: Roddy Hunter 181 Opinions ??
Post by: JoeR on October 24, 2020, 08:15:46 PM
Years ago I bought a used Roddy Hunter 181. My question is, are they just junk not to be trusted or can they be made better, like adding Carbon Fiber drag, etc,  or is it just sell it on the auction site for a few bucks and buy a better reel?  I haven't read much good about them, didn't realize what I was buying at the time.  My use for it will be Inshore saltwater. Thanks for reading.

Hunter conventional/spinner both have that "same factory as budget Okuma" look, to me
ask guys who know older low/mid-price Okuma, if it rings a bell
those PRC-made basic designs/platforms discontinued by Okuma had to go somewhere...
I have an old Abukuma(okumAbu?) spinner -- POS, but great alternate "tinker" parts for decent Okuma
