Post by: shanenel on January 01, 2012, 11:15:38 AM
The drag washers on my daiwas is a redish brown collour and is bonded to a backing plate. The problem Ihave is that this material that was use is very brittle and is starting to break and chip off, even with cals drag grease on them. Can I replace them with carbotex washers ,and do I have to glue them back on or can I just put them straight in.If I glue them is their any special glue they use or will any two part epoxy work.

i have seen that material.  it's either fiberglass or kevlar.  either way, it's bad.  i once worked on one of those reels for 16 straight hours on one weekend and never did get it right.  i would send it back to daiwa for routine service, then toss the daiwa receipt into the box and sell it with a clear conscience.  it's a discontinued reel and there is a reason for that.  good luck.  alan
